FAQ

What is the difference between a consumer drone (Mavic) and an Enterprise drone?

The DJI Enterprise line includes the Matrice 4 series, Matrice 400 RTK, Matrice 30 series, Zenmuse H30 series sensors and DJI Dock 3 — platforms designed specifically for professional use with a much higher degree of protection (IP55 against dust and rain), removable payloads, RTK precise positioning and integration with company fleet management software. The Mavic 3 Enterprise series occupies an intermediate position — compact, lightweight platforms with a mechanical shutter, a 56x zoom camera and an RTK module for centimeter accuracy, but without the full modularity of the Matrice series.

Matrice 4 (M4T/M4E) — what is it for?

The Matrice 4 series includes the Matrice 4T and Matrice 4E, each with intelligent detection and measurement via laser rangefinder. The Matrice 4T is suitable for a wide range of industries — power distribution, emergency response, public safety and forestry, while the Matrice 4E is aimed at geospatial applications such as surveying and mapping, construction and mining.

Matrice 30/30T vs. newer models — are they still a relevant choice?

The Matrice 30 series remains a mature, widely supported platform with integrated sensors in a lightweight and portable body, but it was released back in March 2022 and is currently among the models no longer in production. It has been replaced by the DJI Matrice 4D / TD.

Matrice 350 RTK vs. Matrice 400 — which is the newer platform?

The Matrice 400 is the newer flagship in the heavy-duty class — DJI replaced the Matrice 300 RTK first with the M350, then with the M400. Both use RTK positioning to mitigate magnetic and electromagnetic interference from metal structures, making them safer for inspecting unstable buildings, bridges, and oil rigs.

Can I order consultation or technical assistance when choosing an industrial drone solution from Drones.bg?

Drones.bg is a specialized store with experience in industrial drone systems and the team can assist you in choosing the right equipment for your specific task and platform. It is recommended to contact the store directly via the available contact forms or phone to receive a personalized pre-purchase consultation and a personalized price quote.

What is RTK and why is it important?

RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) is a precision positioning system that provides centimeter accuracy instead of the standard meter accuracy of regular GPS — critical for mapping, infrastructure inspection near metal objects, and any task requiring repeatability of the flight path.

What does DJI Dock 3 do?

Dock 3 enables fully autonomous operations without a pilot on site — the station charges, stores and launches a compatible drone on demand, triggered by a dispatch system, sensor alarm or planned mission. For utilities, critical infrastructure operators and agencies requiring 24/7 coverage, this completely changes the economics of drone operations. Dock 3 is compatible with the Matrice 3TD, Matrice 4D or Matrice 4TD and is remotely controlled via DJI FlightHub 2.

How does the drone react if it loses contact with the Dock station during an autonomous mission?

The aircraft continues to perform the programmed mission autonomously via the onboard flight controller; if communication is not restored within a set timeout, the drone follows the pre-configured behavior upon loss of connection — typically a return to dock command. For mission-critical missions, planning for backup cellular coverage or an additional communication channel is recommended.

What Zenmuse sensors can I combine with Matrice platforms?

Depends on the model: The Zenmuse H30 series combines a wide-angle camera (1/1.3 inch CMOS, 48MP), a zoom camera (20MP) with a wide camera (12MP) and a laser rangefinder with a range of 1200m. For LiDAR mapping, the Zenmuse L2/L3 integrates a LiDAR sensor, a proprietary high-precision IMU system and a 4/3 format RGB camera — the Zenmuse L3, for example, delivers accuracy of the order of 4cm absolute, suitable for LiDAR corridor and forest surveys penetrating vegetation.

When do I need a thermal camera (T-model)?

The thermal variants (M4T, M30T) are designed for applications such as fire safety, search and rescue, inspection and night operations — anywhere temperature differences need to be detected visually, regardless of visible light.

What is DJI FlightHub 2?

It is a cloud-based drone fleet management platform that unifies the hardware ecosystem — offering live video streaming from any drone to any browser, centralized mission planning, pilot log management, maintenance tracking, and coordination across multiple aircraft. For organizations operating 3+ drones, FlightHub 2 turns individual aircraft into a coordinated fleet.

Can I fly over people with an industrial drone in the EU?

This depends on the C-class marking of the specific aircraft and configuration. For example, the Matrice 400 with the added DJI AP100 parachute module (see below) meets the requirements for safe operation under the C5/UK5 and C6/UK6 classifications, which opens the door to legal work over people and BVLOS flights under the STS-02 scenario in a factory-certified configuration — without the aircraft having to go through the entire EASA certification process again from scratch.

What does DJI Care Enterprise cover?

This is the extended warranty and insurance program specifically for the Enterprise fleet — typically covering accidental damage, expedited parts replacement, and priority maintenance, important for organizations for whom the downtime of the aircraft directly impacts the business or mission.

Does DJI also make drones for agriculture, or is the Enterprise line just for inspection/mapping?

Yes — DJI Agras is a separate product line specifically for spraying and spreading. The Agras T50 carries up to 40 liters of spray liquid or 50 kg for solid material spreading, with a dual spray tank, front and rear phased array radars, and a binocular vision system for autonomous obstacle avoidance. The larger Agras T100 achieves a maximum payload of 100 kg and doubles the operational efficiency of the T50, with support for spraying, spreading, and even lifting loads.

Can I legally fly the Agras T50/T100 in Bulgaria/EU without an additional certificate?

Almost certainly not just with basic A1/A3 training. The Agras T50 has an empty weight of around 40 kg, and a maximum take-off weight for spraying reaches over 90 kg — this is clearly outside the open EASA category (A1-A3, limit 25 kg) and falls into the specific category requiring individual approval from DG "CAA" based on a risk assessment, not just an online exam.

What is DJI Terra and is it different from Pilot 2?

DJI Pilot 2 is the application for the flight itself — route planning, camera control, real-time telemetry monitoring. DJI Terra is a separate post-processing software — it turns the data captured by the drone (photos, LiDAR point clouds) into ready-made 2D maps, 3D models or orthomosaics for engineering and geodetic purposes.

What qualifications do I need to operate an Enterprise drone professionally in Bulgaria?

In addition to basic A1/A3 training, most real-world industrial applications (inspection of power lines near people, flights weighing more than 25kg, autonomous Dock operations beyond direct visibility) fall into the specific EASA category, which requires individual authorization from DG CAA based on a risk assessment (SORA), and not just a certificate of competence like A2. For organizations with frequent flights in a standard scenario, it is also possible to obtain LUC (Light UAS Operator Certificate) status, which allows self-approval of their own flights without waiting for individual authorization each time - but this is a serious administrative process, not a quick formality.

Does DJI Enterprise have a solution for organizations concerned about data security?

Yes — DJI FlightHub 2 also offers an option for on-premises (local) deployment instead of cloud, especially for organizations with increased data security and control requirements, along with flexible custom development via SDK for integration with your own systems.
